Review #40 – Free Online Game
Shift, a Black and White series of deadly traps
Last week we were visiting Invert Inc., a company (that at least
seems to be) genuinely beneficial to society. No so much this week’s entry. TC
Sciences is pretty controversial, especially with regards to how they treat
their test subjects.
Welcome to Shift! You are test subject 32763!
Shift is a puzzle platformer with a signature mechanic. Along the way,
you’ll have to “shift” past obstacles, inverting both the color scheme and the
world.
The game atmosphere draws heavily from Portal, but that’s not all it
has. Even when you get your head around the shifting mechanic, the game keeps
you on your toes by throwing a few lateral thinking puzzles into the mix. All
in all, it can be tough, but never impossible.
On a final note, even though the last games improve a lot over the
previous ones, it’s still highly recommended to play through all of them. Each
new instance adds new mechanics that become part of the Shift world in all
subsequent games. So, to get the full experience, go from 1 to 4.
Good luck and remember to shift!
